Optical emission spectrometers (OES) and the measuring principal of the atomic emission is the ideal method and provide the perfect instrumentation for metal analysis in all different industrial businesses and environments.
Metal producing industries like foundries, steel- copper-, aluminium plants, and all kinds of fabricators in the automotive, aviation, and home appliance industry, as well as inspection companies, contract laboratories and metal recyclers use optical emission spectrometers for process and quality control.
The optical emission spectroscopy is very well accepted due to its easy-to-use instrumentation. No matter if small bench-top or floor standing stationary, these analyzers assure accuracy and highest precisions in all environments and for all tasks. Even in research and development laboratories they are convincing with their analytical performances.

The innovative MultiVision™ optics is equipped with an electromagnetic light junction to use the full elemental range with best performance and compactness.
Bruker has launched the new Q4 TASMAN™ Series 2, a versatile, high-performance spark-optical emission spectrometer for the metals industry. The Q4 TASMAN Series 2 employs MultiVision™, a dual optics concept that allows the optimal choice between three variants for individual analytical needs. Additional benefits of MultiVision are increased reliability and reduced cost of ownership due to low argon gas consumption. Optimisations of the SmartSpark™ digital spark source and improvements to the coaxial argon flow design contribute to improved analytical precision, long-term stability and shorter time-to-result. The pneumatically driven sample clamp on the spark stand ensures easy sample handling and accepts a wide range of samples.
The analytical range of the Q4 TASMAN Series 2 has been extended for many elements, and new element sets enable the analysis of new alloy types. Dedicated analytical solution packages are available for all ten common metal bases used in the metals market. These packages include full element sets, calibrations, alloy groups and standardisation samples.
The new version 3 of the ELEMENTAL.SUITE™ OES software has an analysis viewer that provides easy grouping and filtering capabilities. It also includes export of results to LIMS or L2 systems, report generation and generation of control charts. Queries to the comprehensive materials database give access to more than 350,000 alloys from more than 75 countries.
A comprehensive set of adapter kits is available for the analysis of small pieces, tubes, wires, and sheets. These adapters address the specific challenges of an optimal positioning over the electrode, while adjusting tightness to samples of different shapes and sizes. Another option reduces the size of the spark stand opening by using ceramic inserts, allowing the direct measurement of samples with dimensions down to 6 mm.
